This is no more clearly evident than with Holocaust books and films. Whenever we stand up to those who deny or minimize the Holocaust, or to those who support genocide we send a critical message to the world.

We live in an age of vulnerability. Holocaust deniers ply their mendacious poison everywhere, especially with young people on the Internet. We know from captured German war records that millions of innocent Jews (and others) were systematically exterminated by Nazi Germany - most in gas chambers. Holocaust books and films help to tell the true story of the Shoah, combating anti-Semitic historical revision. And, they protect future generations from making the same mistakes.

I wrote "Jacob's Courage" to promote Holocaust education. This coming of age love story presents accurate scenes and situations of Jews in ghettos and concentration camps, with particular attention to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz. It examines a constellation of emotions during a time of incomprehensible brutality. A world that continues to allow genocide requires such ethical reminders and remediation.

Many authors feel compelled to use their talent to promote moral causes. Holocaust books and movies carry that message globally, in an age when the world needs to learn that genocide is unacceptable. Such authors attempt to show the world that religious, racial, ethnic and gender persecution is wrong; and that tolerance is our progeny's only hope.

You mentioned that you are interested in a good Holocaust story. Jacob's Courage has been reviewed extensively. Called, "gut wrenching and heart rending," this love story takes the reader deep into ground zero of the Holocaust, encompassing the reader with constantly churning emotions. Despite the abject terror of this book, it also reveals the triumphant spirit of humankind and an example of how ordinary people can perform extraordinary acts of courage when the lives of loved ones are on the line.

Please contact me at csw1@sev.org if you would like to receive a free e-reviewer's copy of Jacob's Courage.

Charles Weinblatt
Author, "Jacob's Courage"
http://jacobscourage.wordpress.com/.Charleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10543105906628694496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3439823737924396912.post-40450319699396464502009-08-11T19:19:04.037-07:002009-08-11T19:19:04.037-07:00I was okay with HP, but mostly because I don't...I was okay with HP, but mostly because I don't have the highest expectations for the movies. I want to be entertained and be able to reasonably follow an interesting plot line. I felt like the move fit the bill. But Time Traveler's Wife... now that was a great book, but I just can't see how it could be a good movie. Especially since the preview did not really blow me away. I feel differently than the reviewer here about the ending. The book's memoir-esque tone completely jibes with the ending - why would he write the book otherwise? As I was taken on this ride through Jason's life - the ending is what made me as the reader see why the story was even told.stepheauxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08006982636581147137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3439823737924396912.post-12441540090151747232009-07-28T09:21:49.241-07:002009-07-28T09:21:49.241-07:00Especially book surprises!Especially book surprises!Beccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04454844719358203405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3439823737924396912.post-13053893258030091952009-07-28T08:18:56.762-07:002009-07-28T08:18:56.762-07:00don't you just love surprises!don't you just love surprises!Serenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04745809545249574387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3439823737924396912.post-23065351282314403052009-07-20T16:49:07.060-07:002009-07-20T16:49:07.060-07:00I have passed on an award to you.
