A book to help me declutter

I went to the library today to pick up my holds and was really excited to find It's All Too Much: An easy plan for living a richer life with less stuff by Peter Walsh. I put this book on hold about a month and a half ago, but I'm glad it came right now. It's rather serendipitous actually, as my boyfriend and I are just now beginning to unpack into our new apartment. I began the work yesterday and realized that we have way more stuff than we thought. See, a year ago he and I moved to Paris thinking we were going to be staying a couple of years, so we gave away pretty much everything we own aside from books and clothes ... and somehow a couple of boxes filled with random stuff. I began going through these boxes and managed to put away some books and office supplies that had made their way into them, but then I gave up and just dumped them together into a small box, figuring we can sort through it later. Hopefully this book will give me the courage to do just that!

I need this book! We're packing to move now, too, and it's driving me insane, all this clutter. And even worse? Our new house was previously owned by people who are going to live on a boat now, so they're leaving virtually everything. Double the clutter, double the fun!

Dewey: That sounds miserable! I hate moving because you suddenly realize how much stuff you really have. Adding other people's stuff to that would probably put me in a loony bin. I've already read about four chapters of this book and I really, really like it. It's a little more self-helpy than I'd like, but it's super helpful and very conversational which makes it easy to read.

I HATE clutter. It seems life so much of life is trying to manage it. I'm a thrower, but it still seems as if I have too much stuff. Perhaps it is the small apartment space, but who knows, maybe I just need to do more decluttering.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I received "All About Lulu" today, thank you for sending it to me! I'll definitely be taking part in your book club after I read it!

I have a lot of stuff. A couple months ago I bought about 40 back issues of a music magazine I enjoy reading and they are now collecting dust in my closet. I have several gifts from family I have yet to figure out what to do with. Alana is worse that I am though. We lived in a 900 square foot one bedroom apartment in Davis and it was packed with stuff, mostly hers. When we moved to Yuba City we moved into a three bedroom house with roughtly 1600 square feet, plus a garage and shed. I told her half-jokingly that she was going to fill it with stuff and over the course of the last three years she has done just that. Needless to say I dread the day we inevitably move.

Clutter is the enemy!! I have a book to recommend for decluttering: Sink Reflections by Marla Cilley (aka "Flylady") It is really good!

Chason: Sounds like you should get this book for Alana. The review is coming tomorrow so you can see if you're interested.

LisaMM: Thanks so much for the suggestion! I LOVE anti-clutter books. They make my heart smile in a big way.
